چکیده

We consider the application of the Multiple Point Criticality Principle to the Standard Model and its extension to the anti-grand gauge group SM G 3 ⊗ U (1) f at the Planck scale. In particular we discuss the predictions for the fine structure constants: α −1 (0) = 137 ± 9, α −1 1 (M Z) = 99 ± 5, α −1 2 (M Z) = 29 ± 6, α −1 3 (M Z) = 12 ± 6. We also present our Standard Model predictions for the top quark and Higgs masses and a SM G 3 ⊗ U (1) f fit of the quark-lepton masses and mixing angles. We characterise SM G 3 ⊗ U (1) f as the largest possible extension of the Standard Model gauge group satisfying some relatively simple assumptions. The resolution of some other fine-tuning problems (Λ cosmological , Θ QCD , M Higgs) by the multiple point requirement of degenerate vacua is briefly discussed.

Predictions for Nonabelian Fine Structure Constants from Multicriticality

In developing a model for predicting the nonabelian gauge coupling constants we argue for the phenomenological validity of a “principle of multiple point criticality”. This is supplemented with the assumption of an “(grand) anti-unified” gauge group SMGgen. ∼ U(1)gen. ×SU(2)Ngen. ×SU(3)Ngen. that, at the Planck scale, breaks down to the diagonal subgroup. Here Ngen is the number of generations ...

The b − τ unification in GUTs with non - chiral matter

It is shown, that the presently accepted value for b-quark mass can be obtained from the requirement of the exact b − τ unification in the both non-SUSY and SUSY non-chiral extended GUTs. Introduction. In due time the minimal SU(5) grand unification proposal [1] had ignited interest to the Grand Unified Theory (GUT) business by the calculation of the unification scale M GUT and mixing angle sin...

The Weinberg Angle Without Grand Unification

We assume that strong and electroweak interactions become strong at very high energies. With this assumption, we compute the low-energy gauge coupling constants αi(mZ) as a function of the cutoff scale, taking the supersymmetric standard model with 3+2n families of quark and lepton multiplets. We find that only the five family case (n = 1) is consistent with the experimental values of the gauge...

SUSY GUTs without light Higgs bosons

There are two different types of perturbative unification in SUSY GUTs. Perturbative gauge unification is necessary for the extremely successful prediction of sin θw. “Perturbative validity” requires that all couplings (not just the gauge couplings) remain small; this assumption is essential to the proof that any SUSY GUT must have a light Higgs with a mass below 140 GeV. It is pointed out here...
